Visit to Royal Selangor

On the 25 October 2016 , the IEM UNMC Student Section has organised an industrial visit to Royal Selangor Malaysia. The visit is aimed to expose our engineering students to the largest Pewter manufacturer and Royal Selangor is selected due to its good reputation.

Industrial Visit: Shell Refinery, Port Dickson

On Wednesday, 26th February 2014, UNMC IEM Student Chapter was given the privilege to conduct an industrial visit to Shell Refinery, Port Dickson. The objective of this half day tour was to render participants with a better insight into Shell’s working routine and recruitment procedure. The day began with a tour inside the refinery with commentary delivered by accompanying young engineers. Thereafter, a career talk session was conducted by the recruitment team, providing enthusiasts with successful application tips and a clear understanding of the application process. Highlight of the day emerged as the interactive session with the engineers under Shell’s Graduate Programme. Participants had the opportunity to dine with these graduates to gain extended first-hand information pertaining to their working lifestyle in Shell.

Industrial Visit: Proton Manufacturing Plant


A group of 40 students including 2 lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering have recently visited the Proton manufacturing plant in Shah Alam on 3rd December 2013. Accompanying them were two lecturers from the Faculty of Engineering Dr Hii Ching Lik (student advisor, UNMC-IEM) and Mr Chen Khin Fai. The students departed from UNMC at 8 am and arrived at the Proton manufacturing plant, Shah Alam at 9:30a.m. The visit was guided by Mr Shafiq (Proton) and accompanied by a 2 technical staffs.

The students were then brought to the Saga assembly line (about 1 km walking distance) to have a more detailed view of the production steps such as welding, wheel, door and window assembling, engine assembling, body painting, alignment-balancing and test driving. The students also took the chance to ask about career advice and opportunities in the car industry towards the end of the tour. The visit ended at 12 pm after lunch refreshment hosted by Proton and Mr Shafiq presented Proton souvenir books to all the students before leaving.
